Bettina and Søren Staunsgaard’s villa in the Hunderup neighbourhood of Odense has a unique location looking directly out over Odense ZOO’s savannah area, where giraffes, zebras and other animals graze right on the other side of the fence at the bottom of the garden.

The Hunderup neighbourhood is one of Odense’s most attractive residential areas. The neighbourhood developed at the end of the 1800s, when industrialisation brought rapid growth to the city and many of the wealthy families left the inner city and built new, large patrician villas in Hunderup. The neighbourhood includes many exciting luxury properties from the early 1900s, where there was focus on quality and architecturally attractive solutions.

The couple bought the house in April 2015 and spent one year on an extension and thorough renovation. Bettina is not a fan of sharp graphic design in black and white, but prefers to combine modern design with organic materials, textiles and shades of brown, grey and soft pink. The beautiful Spanish chairs in patinated core leather, designed by Børge Mogensen, fit in perfectly in this context. The chairs come from Søren’s childhood home. Throughout the house are door handles in solid polished brass, designed by the architects Benedicte & Poul Erik Find from the Hindevadgaard design studio.

In the villa on Langelinie, Rikke Berg recommended combining Multiform’s wall-mounted Form 6 base cabinet with a Form 2 tall cabinet and Corian worktops, a Quooker tap and waste disposal unit. Bettina has had the button for the waste disposal unit built in under the sink to achieve a clean, aesthetic expression in the kitchen. The bathrooms were furnished with Form 6 pieces. White cabinets are installed in the entrance, with beautiful hand-crafted cattle horn handles.

Holistic approach and sense for details

Rikke Berg, owner of Multiform in Odense, has more than 25 years of experience with interiors and designing beautiful homes. Rikke has advised the family on the design of the house’s kitchen and two bathrooms, which are from Multiform. “When I’m asked to advise on new kitchens and bathrooms, I look at the entire home, because it’s so important that there is unity and harmony between the rooms and the interior design. I can advise on everything, from wooden floors to tiles, lamps, appliances and curtains,” says Rikke Berg.

Bettina and Søren also had Multiform in their previous house, and Bettina loves the hand-made, solid maple drawers. “Multiform appeals to families who want to invest in quality and design that lasts for generations. These are families who appreciate a kitchen that is hand-crafted and custom-made for them and includes gorgeous details, for example our wooden drawers, which are hand-made at Multiform’s workshop in West Jutland,” says Bettina Staunsgaard.
